Overview of Holdings
The Oberlin College Archives, established 1966, holds the permanently valuable records of the institution (Board of Trustees, main administrative divisions, academic departments, etc.) as well as those of individuals, families, and organizations affiliated with Oberlin College and/or the town of Oberlin. Included are historical materials on movements with which Oberlin has been associated, such as anti-slavery, black education, coeducation, missions, temperance, cultural diversity, ecology, and the environment. Records are held of the former thirteen presidents who served Oberlin College from 1835 to 2007. In addition, personal papers exist of faculty, graduates, and other Oberlin related individuals (401 collections); municipal government records of the town of Oberlin and of Russia Township; and over 300,000 photographs of the College and the town. The current holdings consist of approximately 8,400 linear feet of records organized around 56 record groups.
