Reference Services
The staff of the Oberlin College Archives will handle all reference inquiries in the order in which they are received. Facilities and services include a public reading room, research consultation services, research retrieval and reprographic service. We welcome you to visit us at the Mudd Center, or to contact us by email using our online form. Archives staff can provide long distance researchers with information regarding our holdings, but cannot undertake extensive research for patrons.
During the initial visit to the Oberlin College Archives, researchers are asked to put away their belongings other than laptops in one of the lockable storage units and to complete a registration form. Researchers should discuss their research project with an archivist on duty in the reading room. During the interview, the archivist will make the researcher aware of the major holdings available at the Oberlin College Archives relating to their topic. The archivist will explain the finding aids, online digital collections, and other important reference tools available in the reading room.
