DESCRIPTION
The tank is half-filled with water with a little cremora to scatter the laser light.  The air above the tank contains smoke particles, also to scatter the light.  The tank is covered with a piece of plastic to keep the smoke in.  The laser is aimed to show refraction and internal reflection at the water-air interface, but is mounted so that the angle can be varied to show the transition to total internal reflection.
