Finding Articles & Journals

Articles

Summon is a great starting point for finding articles on any topic.

For more in-depth research, search databases to find references to articles in scholarly journals, popular magazines, and newspapers. Browse the listing of databases alphabetically or by subject area.

Many databases provide the full text of articles in addition to citations.

Note: If Oberlin does not have the article you need, you may request copies of specific articles via Interlibrary Loan; it is not possible to request articles via OhioLINK.

Journals

If you know the title of the journal you need, search the Journal Finder to determine if Oberlin has print holdings or electronic access.

In all libraries on campus, print journals are organized by alphabetically by title (rather than by call number or subject).

Note: If Oberlin does not have the journal you need, you may request copies of specific articles via Interlibrary Loan. In most cases, it is not possible to request periodicals via OhioLINK.

Major Full Text Journal Databases

JSTOR: The Scholarly Journal Archive Provides searchable full-text of scholarly journals in the liberal arts, beginning with the first volume of each journal; in most cases, current issues are not included.

Directory of Open Access Journals Provides access to free, full text, quality-controlled scientific and scholarly journals.
