Presentation:
Class visits and presentations are available in any subject area that our rich Special Collections holdings support. Contact Ed about the variety of primary resources that might support student research assignments. Presentations around the subject of library and paper preservation are also a possibility.

Statement:
Computer based technologies have come to dominate our communications lately. So, it is perhaps not surprising that we have only recently become more broadly aware that we have also been culturally influenced and constrained by the printed paper book and periodical of the last centuries. Book Studies has now begun to advance new research in directions which seek to inform our understanding of the ways in which the command of literacy has intersected and influenced our cultures. Collections of rare print and manuscript materials matter, not just because of their intellectual content, but because they can also tell us so much as tangible artifacts. Maintenance and organization of these collections is essential and using them is universally a thrill for students.
