All semester-loan library material (primarily non-reserve books and government documents) is due on Wednesday, December 18, 2019. Please remember that other library materials, such as reserve, periodicals, interlibrary loans, OhioLINK items, and recalled materials may have different due dates.
If you are completing work due during the exam period, you may keep semester loan items for a few extra days without incurring fines. If you wish to keep library materials during the holiday shutdown or beyond, please renew them. Library materials remaining overdue at the beginning of spring semester will result in a hold on your enrollment. We expect you to honor due dates during Winter Term. Please plan to renew materials due during Winter Term, and be prepared to return them if they are not renewable.
Beginning on December 6, you may begin renewing your library materials until the end of next semester. Please note that not all materials allow online renewals, but may be re-checked out at the circulation desk. Also, renewals will not be allowed for materials needed by other patrons. In addition, any semester-loan books you check out from then on will be due at the end of next semester.
If you are leaving library materials in a scholar study or carrel please remember to renew them. Materials remaining overdue may be fined and/or cause enrollment holds for second semester.
Please be aware that you remain responsible for the return in good condition of these materials at the end of next semester or when recalled. The cost of replacing materials lost or damaged while in your care will be billed to you at the cost of replacement, plus a $25 processing fee. Recall fines will be enforced without regard to the distance you are from Oberlin. If you choose to take materials off campus, you do so accepting these responsibilities. Please contact a circulation supervisor if you have any questions about this policy.
This policy may differ from branch library policies.
NOTE: Graduating students who remain in the area may become alumni borrowers. Ask for a copy of the courtesy borrowing privileges at the circulation desk for more information.
