Towers and Trees: The Urban and Rural Landscape
Poetry and Paintings by Oberlin College Students

Towers and Trees: The Urban and Rural Landscape was an interdisciplinary show addressing human intervention in, and interaction with, the natural landscape.

Students in an introductory painting class formed the core of the exhibit; their works were supplemented by paintings from a variety of Oberlin students. The Creative Writing Program held a competition and selected winning poems on the same theme. The winning poems were read at the exhibit opening in March, 2002. Artists selected for inclusion also gave gallery talks.

The winning poems and the four paintings selected “Best of Show” were reproduced in the anthology that accompanied the exhibit.
