Montraville Stone
Born in Vermont in 1810, Montraville Stone attended Hinesburgh Academy, where he studied a classical education of Latin and Greek. Stone and family moved west to Cuyahoga County, Ohio, in 1832. After working as a farmer and teacher in the town of Strongsville, Stone, along with his wife and family, moved to Oberlin in 1868. In Oberlin, Stone served as president of the Citizens' National Bank and as a member of First Church. Stone served as mayor of Oberlin in 1874 and 1875. Stone died October 30, 1888, at the age of 78.
